Here are a few quick tips that can help promote a more positive outlook.
- Monitor what you subject yourself to.
Just recently I have become aware of the importance for me not watching the news first thing in the morning because it has had a negative impact on my whole day. I have also tried to limit the amount of negative things I watch and listen to throughout my day.
- Take a vacation.
I understand that no everyone can just get up and leave on vacation. We can all take a 5-10 minute vacation in our day. We can lie down in bed and put the covers over our heads and imagine we are somewhere warm and exotic. We can take a shower and use a soap or body wash that has a scent that makes us feel uplifted. We can set time in our day to do something that helps recharge our batteries. For some it is yoga, meditation, prayer, aromatherapy, crafts, etc. Whatever it is for you, find the time to enjoy.
- Send a love note.
Write a positive message to yourself and leave it up where you can see it for the whole day. Make it the wallpaper of your phone, or put it on your bathroom mirror. Tell yourself how special you are or what you love about yourself.
- Treat yourself to something special.
Buy yourself a little gift. If you treat yourself with love and care, it will help you see your worth. So pamper yourself with a new fragrance, or the pair of shoes you have been eyeing.
- Plan a date for yourself.
This date could be for you alone or with a friend or loved one. Plan a date includes doing and going to places that you enjoy. Maybe take photos to remember the date or scrapbook your date. Your date could be a massage, or a facial, or a trip to the zoo, a movie, but something you would not usually do for yourself.
